Welcome Home consists of works created by
artists in response to the Vietnam War and artifacts that survived the war or are evocative of it. Most of the artists featured fought in the war. The artifacts offer a glimpse of the sacrifices made and the living conditions endured by American troops. Artists include James Davis Nelson, Robert Hettiger and Jamie Wyeth. Artifacts include uniforms, weapons, medals, personal gear and objects which represent both the United States Armed Forces, their South Vietnamese allies and the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong.
This exhibit was created by the New York State Office of General Services with the generous assistance of the New York State Museum and the New York State Department of Military and Naval Affairs Military Museum.
